How to set up your site so it is easy for customers to find online
Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) helps Google and other search engines understand your website and show it to the right people. This guide walks you through the essential steps to give your Rex Website the best start.
You must be logged into your Rex Websites Admin panel before you can complete any of these steps.
1. Set up your homepage SEO details
Your homepage SEO settings tell Google who you are and what you offer. This is one of the most important steps in your setup.
From your Rex Websites admin panel, go to Settings -> SEO -> Index Pages
Page Title
The Page Title is the headline that appears in Google search results.
Why it matters:
It helps search engines understand what your site is about.
Tips for writing a good title:
Include your business name and the main service you offer
Keep it under 60 characters
Add your location if relevant
Example:
“Newstead Real Estate | Real Estate Sales and Property Management in Newstead QLD 4006”
Description
The Description is the short summary shown under your title in Google.
Why it matters:
A clear, inviting description helps encourage people to click through to your website.
Tips for writing a good description:
1 to 2 short sentences
Describe what you do
Add a call to action if possible
Aim for under 160 characters
Where to update these settings:
Settings, then SEO, then Index Pages.
2. Add SEO information to each page
Every page on your website should have its own title and description. This helps Google match each page to the right searches.
How to update a page’s SEO:
From your Rex Websites admin panel, go to Content -> Pages
Open the page you want to edit.
Click Edit SEO (on the right hand side of the screen)
Add a unique title that clearly describes that page.
Add a short description that explains what visitors will find there.
Examples:
About Us page: “About Our Team | Newstead Real Estate”
Services page: “Property Management Services | Newstead Real Estate”
Avoid using the same title or description on more than one page.
3. Who does what? (Content vs technical setup)
Good SEO is a shared responsibility.
What Rex Websites handles for you:
Mobile optimisation
Fast site performance
Proper heading structure (H1, H2, H3)
Fixing technical issues like broken links
What you will need to provide:
Clear, original text about your business
Descriptions of your services
Team bios
Listing information
Any content that reflects who you are as a business
Search engines rely on real content. The more meaningful and original your content is, the better your results.
4. Using a chatbot to improve engagement
Installing a chatbot on your website can improve the way visitors interact with your site.
How a chatbot helps your SEO:
Keeps visitors on your site longer: They can ask questions instantly.
Reduces bounce rate: A chatbot can guide people to the right page quickly.
Supports Local SEO: Some tools help you collect more Google Reviews, which boosts visibility in local searches.
When to consider a chatbot:
You have good traffic but low enquiry numbers
You want to improve customer experience
You need more Google Reviews
Chatbots do not change your SEO settings, but they can improve the behaviours that search engines pay attention to.
5. Tracking your website traffic with Google Analytics 4 (GA4)
Google Analytics helps you understand how people use your website, including which pages they visit and how they found you.
How to set up GA4:
Log into Google Analytics and create a new GA4 property for your site.
Copy the Measurement ID (it starts with “G-”).
Copy the full tracking script from Google.
Send the script to our team so we can install it for you.
After installation:
The script will load on every page of your website.
It may take up to 24 hours for data to start appearing.
