When switching your website to Rex Websites, you’ll need to update your DNS records so your domain name points to our servers.
Sometimes, customers aren’t sure who their domain registrar or DNS hosting provider is. This guide will help you identify it.
Step 1. Check Your Domain Registration
Your domain registrar is usually the company where you purchased your domain name (like GoDaddy, Crazy Domains, Google Domains, etc.).
If you remember where you bought your domain, log in to that account – that’s where DNS settings are often managed.
Step 2. Use a WHOIS Lookup
If you don’t remember, you can look it up:
Go to a free WHOIS lookup tool (e.g. whois.auda.org.au or whois.com).
Enter your domain name (e.g.
example.com).Look for the Registrar field – this is the company that manages your domain registration.
⚠️ Note: Some registrars provide DNS hosting themselves, but others may point your DNS to a different provider.
Step 3. Check Your Nameservers
While doing a WHOIS lookup, also check the Nameservers section.
Examples:
ns1.crazydomains.com→ Crazy Domains is hosting your DNS.ns-cloud-b1.googledomains.com→ Google Domains is hosting your DNS.ns1.digitalocean.com→ DigitalOcean is hosting your DNS.ns1.yourhostingprovider.com→ Your web hosting company may be managing your DNS.
Step 4. Ask Your IT or Email Provider
Sometimes your DNS is managed by whoever set up your email or previous website hosting.
If your email is with Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace, your IT provider may also manage DNS.
Contact them and ask who controls your DNS.
Step 5. Once You Identify Your Provider
Log in to your provider’s account. You’ll need to:
Locate the DNS settings section (sometimes called DNS Manager, Zone Editor, or Advanced DNS).
Update the records as per Rex Websites’ instructions.
